Self repairing safety shoes launched: Nanomaterials can automatically repair worn soles

A Swiss research team has teamed up with a safety shoe brand to launch the world’s first self-healing safety shoe. The sole is infused with special nano polymers, and when wear or cracks are detected, the material can automatically repair within 24 hours, extending its service life by more than 30%.

This technology has been tested in the laboratory and is expected to be mass-produced by 2026, with a target price of $200 per pair, or disrupting the traditional replacement cycle.
